Tom Rothenberger Reports Progress After Heart Attack By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor One of the most successful high school coaches in Oregon history has reported progress since he suffered a heart attack April 23. Tom Rothenberger of Jesuit High has had a hand in 27 state titles in cross country and track and field and is one of the most influential coaches in the state, although in recent years some of his assistants, including his son, Lucas, have taken on more prominent roles. He also started the Nike Jesuit Twilight Relays, which was held Friday night. UPDATE (5/2): He has left the hospital and is continuing to recover at home. On Tuesday, he updated friends, family and well-wishers Monday with a message on his CaringBridge page. It read, in part: I am recovering well. Getting better each day. Got to go for a walk today around the hospital floor. Needless to say I thank God he decided I have more life to live. I am also very thankful for all your help and support ....special thank you ( and thank you is totally inadequate.... I owe you my life) to Rachel and Joe Folsom for stepping in and saving my life. So important to know CPR.
